The RSUH Russian-Brazilian Centre joined the celebration of the International Mother Language Day, February 21. This day reminds us of the importance of preserving linguistic heritage and respecting the cultures of different peoples.
This year, our international centers organized two notable events:
Online Poetry Marathon
Students and professors from BRICS countries recited poems in their native languages. The poetry festival lasted three hours and brought together dozens of participants! The festival was organized by the International Centre for South Asian Studies (RSUH); the International Russian-Brazilian Centre (RSUH); the Centre for Benelux Studies (RSUH); the Russian House in New Delhi; the Department of Russian Language at the Russian House in Mumbai; the Institute of Legal Translation at Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL); Vikram University (India); and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Lecture on the Languages of Brazil
On February 25, Adriana Glebova, an expert in educational projects and a graduate of the University of Rio de Janeiro, gave a lecture to students of the Institute of International Relations.
She delivered a lecture in Portuguese titled "Language Policy of Brazil." For over two hours, students of the RSUH Institute of International Relations learned about how the country's education system was formed and how different languages have influenced modern Brazilian culture.
