Moscow, October 1, 2026
1rst- and 4th-year students studying Hindi at the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) participated in the 4th Annual "Days of Indian Culture" Festival.
The event is being held from October 1 to 4 at the M.I. Rudomino All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature.
The festival is organized by the Indian Association "Hindustani Samaj" with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Center of the Embassy of India to Russia.
The opening ceremony was attended by
Ms. Marina Zakharenko, Director General of the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature;
His Excellency Mr. Vinay Kumar, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation,
Dr. Kashmir Singh, President of the "Hindustani Samaj" association.
A vibrant cultural program was held as part of the opening.
The audience enjoyed performances in the traditional Kathak (Mansi Parashar) and Odissi (Linu Nayak) styles, as well as a Garba dance performed by Dr. Lakshmi and the "Dance" group.
The musical portion featured vocal performances by Kanta Devi ("Vaishnav Janato," "Darling") and Supriya Gupta ("Monta Re"), concluding the program with the theatrical production "Viday" ("A New Beginning").
The festival is timed to coincide with the 157th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi (October 2).
Until October 4, the library will host painting exhibitions and thematic displays, along with masterclasses and lectures dedicated to Indian traditions.
Following the formal ceremony, all participants were able to sample traditional national dishes provided by the "Darbar" restaurant.
