RSUH Students Shine at International Hindi Poetry Competition in India!

SANGLI, India, September 23, 2026

An international Hindi poetry competition dedicated to "Hindi Pakhwada" (The Fortnight of Hindi) was held at Shrimati Champaben Balchand Shah Women’s College in Sangli, Maharashtra, India.

The event was jointly organized by the college, the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH, Moscow, Russia) and the cultural society "Shri Gujarati Seva Samaj".

The program was chaired by the college’s Director, Professor Dr. Prakash Chikurdekar.

Kantibhai Vamja, President of the Shri Gujarati Seva Samaj society, along with Secretary Ramnik Davda and Director Ritesh Sheth, also delivered welcoming remarks for this significant literary event.

The competition brought together literary figures from India and abroad, including poet Suresh Pandey (Sweden) and poetess Sangita Choubey "Pankhuri" (Kuwait). Representing Russia were RSUH students studying Hindi under the guidance of prof. Indira Gazieva:

Alina Zvyagintseva (4th year)

Veronika Mekkel (1st year)

Margarita Ermalyuk (4th year)

Elena Shah (4th year)

Elizaveta Gareeva (3rd year, Institute of Oriental Cultures and Antiquity).

Joining the event online were Indian radio host and poetess Anupama Anushri (Madhya Pradesh) and Dr. Anita Pandey (Chhattisgarh).

The poetic performances vividly reflected a wide range of themes, including social issues, global consciousness, the beauty of language, nature, and human sensitivity. This international collaboration has further strengthened the college’s academic standing and expertise in Hindi studies, while fostering meaningful cultural dialogue between Russia and India.
