In early September, the Russian government accepted the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' proposal to open Indian consulates general in Kazan and Yekaterinburg. The initiative for these establishments came from India. In July 2024, during his visit to Moscow, His Excellency
Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India proposed opening two new Consulates General of India in Kazan and Yekaterinburg.
The official opening ceremony of the diplomatic mission was held in Moscow with the participation of Indian Foreign Minister Shri Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko.
Moscow universities teachers were also invited to the event.
