Indian Chhayavad poetry, the mystical-romantic era in Hindi literature, was discussed at the online poetry festival at the Russian State University for the Humanities on September 25, 2025.
The Hindi Department of Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi, India) and the Institute of linguistics of the RSUH jointly organized the International Online Literary Festival «Padma Bhushan Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poetry».
Dr. Satya Pal Sharma, Professor of the Department of Hindi of BHU told Russian students about the Padma Bhushan Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poetry. Dr. H.R. Bachchan was the best known in Hindi literature of the Romantic era for his early poem, Madhushala (House of Wine), which was published in 1935 in the 20th century and translated into many languages, and has also been staged many times.
Professor Dr. Alexander Senkevich, a famous Indologist, writer, translator, and specialist in Indian Romantic poetry, told students about his translations of Dr. H.R. Bachchan's poetry collections and several editions of his book published in India.
RSUH Hindi group students and BHU students recited some excerpts from the Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan poems in Hindi.
Russian students recited some poems translations in Russian.
All students and speakers enjoyed the event.
