Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH), Moscow, Russia
A lecture on the history of Indian law was delivered by Mirza Gulzar Ahmed Beg, Director of the Indian Law Center, Advocate to the RSUH Hindi group 2 years students.
Mr. Mirza gave a presentation in which he showed Russian students the stages of the development of jurisprudence in India, starting with the law of Ancient India, then the law of the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughal Empire, the British administration and independent India.
He emphasized on comparing the judicial systems of Russia and India, showing their differences and similarities.
The judicial systems of Russia and India have significant differences. The Russian system is characterized by a centralized structure, where the higher courts have greater power over the lower ones, as well as greater dependence on the executive branch. The Indian system is more decentralized, with greater powers for the lower courts and greater independence from the executive and legislative branches.
At the end of the lecture, the students asked several questions.
Mr. Mirza is now a student at the O.E. Kutafin Moscow State Law University.
We very appreciate Prof. Dr. Viktor Machekhin Mr. Mirza's research supervisor for the opportunity to deliver a lecture on the history of Indian law at the Russian State University for the Humanities.
