Public Speaking

This training course is aimed at developing students’ practical skills of public speaking.

Within the course students study the major aspects of speech preparation and presentation based on ethical, socio linguistic, and psycho linguistic aspects of communication.

The discipline is built as a system of assignments to help students

• to obtain certain knowledge in the sphere of public communication;
• to distinguish traditional rhetorical canons (ethos, pathos, logos) in sample public speeches;
• to construct a thesis, an argument, and a conclusion;
• to write an outline of future speech;
• apply methods of appealing to the audience.
