University cooperation, academic exchanges, and the role of the humanities in the international agenda became the key topics of an expert dialogue at RSUH.
On December 17, RSUH hosted a round table titled “Russia–Indonesia: Cooperation in the Field of Education,” bringing together representatives of the Russian and Indonesian academic communities, government bodies, public organizations, as well as students from both countries.
“Our University — the leading humanities university in Russia — sees Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a country with a rich cultural and historical heritage, as a strategic partner,” said RSUH First Vice-Rector Dmitry Bobrov in his address.
During the plenary session, participants discussed current issues of Russian–Indonesian educational cooperation, prospects for academic mobility, implementation of joint programs for students and postgraduates, development of academic contacts, and expansion of Russian language teaching in Indonesia and Indonesian language teaching in Russian universities. Special attention was paid to the role of universities as key platforms for humanitarian dialogue and intercultural interaction.
“In 2025, we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia. Our presidents, Prabowo Subianto and Vladimir Putin, have already signed agreements on strategic partnership confirming the strengthening of cooperation. One of its aspects is cooperation in education,” said the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares.
The meeting also addressed issues of expanding institutional cooperation between Russian and Indonesian universities, developing the contractual framework for academic collaboration, and the contribution of educational and public organizations to strengthening humanitarian ties.
