Tradition Through Faces: The Story of an Evenki Craftswoman Presented in the RSUH Interactive Atlas

The RSUH project “The Interactive Atlas of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East” has been expanded with a new video from a series created at the 20th International Exhibition “Treasures of the North.” It presents Albina Dmitrieva, an Evenki craftswoman and reindeer herder.

In the interview, Albina Dmitrieva shares the story of her life in the taiga and speaks about Evenki traditions and the everyday practices of taiga reindeer herders.
For her, engagement in traditional sewing not only preserves cultural codes, but also opens the door to the country’s largest exhibitions, such as “Treasures of the North” in Moscow.

The Atlas, developed by RSUH together with the Association of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East, continues to create a digital chronicle of cultures, preserving the living voices of their bearers.

You can watch the interview with Albina in the project’s media library.
All materials from the “Treasures of the North” exhibition are available via the link.
You can learn more about Evenki culture on the Interactive Atlas website.
