The First Youth Forum of Slavic Universities at RSUH

On December 4-5, the First Youth Forum of Slavic Universities was held at RSUH, dedicated to the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication in the CIS

The Forum was organized with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation with the participation of the Academic Council on Comprehensive Issues of History and Culture of Modern Eurasia at the Department of Historical and Philological Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Interstate Educational Institution "Belarusian-Russian University", Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University, Russian-Tajik Slavic University.

The winners of the student work competition at the above-mentioned institutions were invited to participate in the Forum. The purpose of the competition had been to promote the development of student research projects in Russian and youth cooperation.

During the opening of the Forum, a welcoming address was read out fromMr. Primakov, Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), who noted that the Forum was the result of the work of its organizing committee, headed by the President Pivovar, as well as Slavic partner universities in Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He added that the Forum would help increase youth mobility and their involvement in international cooperation in the Eurasian space, strengthen youth cooperation and form a common humanitarian space.

In his welcoming address, Mr. Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on International Affairs, noted that the organization of the Forum had been primarily the result of the active work of its organizers: RSUH and Slavic universities, on the basis of which joint Centers for Eurasian Studies had been created the previous year. He also emphasized that youth cooperation was the most important factor in ensuring sustainable, effective socio-economic development and academic and technological progress of the CIS member states.

Mr. Gramotin, Acting Head of the Department of Coordination of Activities of Educational Organizations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, said that the Ministry of Education and Science considered its most important area of work to be the development of educational and academic cooperation in the Eurasian space, within which Slavic universities play a major role as educational and academic centers that ensure this cooperation in a wide range of areas.

Dr. Pivovar, President of RSUH, noted that the First Youth Forum of Slavic Universities was timed to coincide with the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication in the CIS countries. In this context, he emphasized that it was very important for everyone not only to strengthen the position of the Russian language in the countries represented by four Slavic universities, but also do it on the scale of all countries in the CIS.

Dr. Gagkuev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Historical Society, expressed confidence that the Forum would contribute to the implementation of important tasks facing our countries and peoples in the field of international youth cooperation, including educating young people in the spirit of humanistic values, friendship and good neighborliness, a culture of peace, interethnic and interfaith harmony, respect for culture and languages, history and traditions of other peoples, preserving the memory of younger generations about the common historical past, including the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945.

Dr. Fomin-, Acting Rector of the Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, emphasized the importance of the development of KRSU as a university that largely ensured educational and academic interaction between Russia and Kyrgyzstan, noting the role of the Center for Eurasian Studies of RSUH -KRSU in the development of the university and the prospects for implementing joint projects with RSUH.

Dr. Avetisyan, Vice-Rector for Science of the Russian-Armenian (Slavic) University, wished success to the Forum participants and noted the importance and prospects of the educational and academic partnership between Russia and Armenia.

Dr. Rusakova, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University, spoke of the role of RTSU in the development of educational and academic partnerships, the great importance of developing joint educational and academic projects in the context of preserving and promoting the Russian language as the most important language of communication.

Dr. Vologina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Belarusian-Russian University, noted the great role of the Forum as an element of cooperation between Slavic universities, and spoke about the cooperation of RSUH and the BRU.

Dr. Zabotkina, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of RSUH, stated the importance of the process of establishing personal contacts between young scholars and students of Slavic universities with each other and with Russian colleagues, mentioning the major role of this Forum in the development of this process.

The result of the first session of the Forum was the lecture “Russian language as a language of interethnic communication in the CIS”, delivered by Dr. Sharonov, Chair of the Russian language department at the Institute of Philology and History of RSUH, who spoke about the role of the Russian language in the modern world, the problems and prospects for its development in the Eurasian space, and the main trends in the development of the Russian language in modern Russia.

The next session, “Education and Science Facing the Future”, was attended by young teachers and researchers from Slavic universities. President Pivovar focused on the issues of the modern humanities in the Eurasian space, in particular noting the importance of its development in the context of the formation of a new system of international relations, of building a multipolar world. He emphasized that today the humanitarian component was an important element of a wide range of sciences, that had a huge impact on both the social and economic development of individual countries, as well as on integration processes and interstate interaction at the bilateral and multilateral levels. He also covered the development of digital humanities, youth cooperation and educational activities.

Presentations were made by young teachers and researchers from Slavic universities, who touched upon such aspects as tools for youth interaction, distance learning, features of the development of Slavic universities and a number of others.

The next session was “Student youth - cooperation for the sake of the future”, moderated by Associate Professor of RSUH Gushchin and Associate Professor RSUH Levchenkov. It was attended by undergraduate and graduate students, including the winners of the competition for students of Slavic universities, who made presentations of their competition projects.

On the second day of the forum, DR. Kuvshinov, Director of the International Institute of New Educational Technologies of RSUH, spoke to the participants of the master class 3D “Da Vinci”, where the presentation “Russian language and culture of business speech” was made by Dr. Butorina, professor of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics of the Institute of Linguistics of RSUH.
