In June 2026, fifteen RSUH students completed an internship at the International Center under the guidance of the Center's Director, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Lyudmila Ivanovna Baturina. The number of student interns joining the Center has been growing year after year. This is due to the diversity of tasks, new information gained, and interest in Latin America in general.
In 2026, students from the Department of General History, majoring in "History of International Relations: Russia and the World," joined the Institute of International Relations students for the first time.
During the internship, the students worked in three areas: academic (a lecture course on the history, culture, and economy of Brazil), research (continuing projects begun in 2024 and 2025), and organizational (preparing and hosting a famous Brazilian folklore festival at RSUH).
Thanks to the students' efforts, the toponymic project "Linguistic Landscape of Brazil," begun by their predecessors in 2025, is gradually taking shape and can now be presented at student research conferences. The names of Brazilian settlements and their etymologies were analyzed, their historical roots were identified, and a map was compiled confirming the validity of the proposed hypothesis. Further work is expected to be completed in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Work on the second project, "Brazilian Tales and Legends," begun in 2024, has yielded new research materials. One of the project's stages will include participation in the Latin American Festival at the Library of Foreign Literature in late July 2026, featuring an exhibition of creative works from the "Art Design" educational center and a lecture by the director of the International Russian-Brazilian Center.
The third task the student interns have been working on was organizing and hosting the Brazilian folklore festival "Saint João's Day" for the university's administrative staff. This required understanding the history of the holiday and embracing its spirit. The students successfully completed this task, each receiving their own small assignment, which was integrated into the overall team design of the festival.
All students received high marks for their internship and are eager to return. The International Russian-Brazilian Center is open to everyone!
