RSUH students met with Senator of the Russian Federation, the greatest Greco-Roman wrestler of the 20th century, Hero of Russia: Alexander Karelin

The event took place on February 20.

The event was opened by Rector Bezborodov:

“I am very pleased to see such a guest within in our University today. Thanks to the perseverance, desire for victory and achievements of such legendary people as Alexander Alexandrovich, we can safely be proud of our country!”

The Rector presented the guest of honor with a memorable gift, a porcelain “Teremok” (this is the name of the building of the Correction Chamber of the former Moscow Printing House, currently a part of RSUH on Nikolskaya).

Alexander Karelin talked about his parents, his school years, his hometown of Novosibirsk, his coach, the first steps in the career of a professional wrestler, and about his activities for the benefit of the Russian state. The champion also shared his experience in sports training and emphasized how important it is to be purposeful and persistent in achieving one’s goals.

Answering the question about his idol, Alexander Alexandrovich named his father, Alexander Ivanovich, Viktor Kuznetsov, Honored Trainer of the USSR and Russia in Greco-Roman wrestling, and Alexander Pokryshkin, , ace pilot, awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union three times during the Great Patriotic War.
