RSUH organizeв the II School-Congress of Young Historians and Representatives of the Youth Media Center under the Ministry of Education and Science

From November 24 to 27, 2023, the II School-Congress of Young Historians and Representatives of the Youth Media Center under the Ministry of Education and Science was heldat Tver State University. The organizers were the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation, theRussian Historical Society and RSUH

On November 24, the students from all over the country arrived in Tver. The next day, the opening ceremony took place, with the organizers, including representatives of RSUH, delivering speeches.

The moderator was Dr. Tatyana Leontyeva, Dean of the Faculty of History of Tver State University, who thanked the organizing group and noted the special importance of the activities of the School-Congress in the modern world.

Dr. Lyudmila Skakovskaya, senator of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from the Tver region, spoke to the Congress in writing at the opening. Dr. Sergei Smirnov, Acting Rector of Tver State University, focused on the history of the University and the achievements of its graduates.

Dr. Elena Barysheva, Dean of the Faculty of History of RSUH, noted that the first School-Congress had become a very bright and memorable event for students and teachers. “A historian is not only and not so much an armchair scholar, he is involved in all spheres of life,” noted Elena Vladimirovna.

At the opening, the participants were also addressed by Sergey Golubev, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Tver Region and Vadim Rybachuk, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Tver Region.

For two days, the participants’ work was based on specialized master classes with invited experts in the field of history, journalism and media:

  • “Project work in a team”, the expert was Dr. Artak Ayvazyan, Associate Professor of Moscow State Psychological and Pedagogical University, general director of the Institute of System Analysis and Social Design;
  • “How to write an effective multimedia text”, presented by Dr. Yana Kanevskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of Media Speech, Faculty of Journalism, Institute of Mass Media and Advertising of RSUH;
  • “Search and analysis of historical content on the Internet”, expert Dr. Sergei Kondratenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Modern Russian History, Faculty of History, Institute of History and Archives of RSUH;
  • “Current mechanisms for creating and promoting content in the media space” was led by Dr. Maxim Kornev, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Journalism at the Institute of Mass Media and Advertising of RSUH;
  • “Forms and methods of popularizing Russian cultural heritage objects” were presented by Dr. Margarita Mitnik, Assistant Professor of the Center for Local History and Moscow Studies of RSUH.

Work began in the “Boiling Point” co-working space of Tver University, where Vladimir Rudakov, editor-in-chief of the “Historian” magazine, held an open dialogue “Popularization and actualization of history on the pages of the “Historian” magazine "".

During the panel discussion “History and the historian in the media space,” participants and lecturers discussed the role of the historian in the media sphere.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Tatyana Lutsina, Associate Professor at the New Russia Educational Center. History of Post-Soviet Russia” of RSUH.

The main event of the School-Congress was the defense of projects of the participating teams. Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, arrived in Tver to award the winners of the School-Congress.

The judges chose the project “Frozen Heart of Russia” as the best. The winning: Andrey Dunyushin and Valeria Makarova from Moscow, Andrey Gafurov from the Ulyanovsk region, Kirill Krestyannikov from the Tyumen region and Vladislav Olifer from Melitopol.
