RSUH Launches a Major International Educational Project for BRICS Countries

The Institute of Heritage and Contemporary Society of RSUH has presented in Ethiopia a unique educational project that will allow young people from BRICS countries to learn more about each other’s history, culture, and traditions.

A conference titled “The Cultural Calling Card as an Instrument of International Cultural and Educational Policy” was held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Addis Ababa. Valery Fadeev, Advisor to the President of Russia and Director of the RSUH Institute of Heritage and Contemporary Society, presented the project “Cultural Calling Cards” to Ethiopian colleagues.

According to him, in the modern world people perceive other countries—including BRICS states—through the prism of Western opinion. This idea was expressed earlier by American researcher Edward Said in his book “Orientalism,” where he noted that the world had long been studied from a purely Western perspective. To address the problem of informational isolation, the RSUH Institute of Heritage and Contemporary Society developed the project of creating “cultural calling cards” for BRICS countries. These are special informational packages containing verified materials on the culture, history, art, and contemporary achievements of each participating country. The project’s target audience includes educational institutions—schools and universities of BRICS states. According to Mr. Fadeev, the project will create a solid foundation for mutual cultural enrichment, strengthen diplomatic relations between the countries, and contribute to the formation of a truly multipolar world based on mutual respect and understanding of cultural diversity.
