Issues of strengthening the common humanitarian, educational and academic space of the CIS countries discussed at RSUH

On January 18, in the Academic Council Hall of RSUH, an extended meeting of the Coordination Council of the Forum of Rectors and Deans of Humanitarian Universities and Faculties of the CIS Member States was held. The issues under discussion were the state and prospects of academic and educational cooperation and the determining of the vectors of its development in the CIS

The plenary session was opened by the Rector Bezborodov:

“Our university has launched an extensive program of interaction with the countries of the post-Soviet space. In addition to the exchange of experience, coordination activities and joint work in the present, our work is aimed at the future. A meeting with young scholars from the Commonwealth countries in the summer of 2023 confirmed my words. … It is very important that young experts from the Commonwealth countries are interested in our common past and its academic and methodological understanding”.

CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev sent greetings to the Forum participants, saying:

“I am confident that the Coordination Council of the Forum will discuss the issues and make decisions on further expanding the ties between universities of the CIS countries, which will undoubtedly contribute to the development and strengthening of common humanitarian, educational and academic space of the Commonwealth of Independent States".

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky noted in his welcoming speech:

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science, together with our colleagues from the CIS, is not only updating the regulatory framework, but also strives to support promising initiatives and projects within the framework of university development programs".

Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy spoke on the effectiveness of the event:

“The session of the Forum demonstrates the demand for this format of interaction between the academic and educational communities of our countries and the great importance of cooperation between the heads of universities and faculties.  It is an important element in the formation and functioning of the common humanitarian space of the CIS”.

President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy said:

In the conditions of the contemporary contradictory world, the value of a liberal arts education is only increasing, despite the fact that, at first glance, knowledge in applied fields related to technology and economics is coming to the forefront. We need to see the role of the CIS countries in the world and understand the motives for the actions of certain social systems, states, and politicians”.

Rossotrudnichestvo occupies a particularly important place, being an indispensable companion and assistant in organizing and conducting the Forum sessions. We are ensuring progress in the field of international humanitarian relations, including academic and educational ties.
