Humanizing Society Through Education: RSUH on the Foundations of Russian Identity

Leading Russian scholars, including representatives of RSUH, discussed how education can serve as a key instrument in shaping national identity.

The Russian Academy of Education hosted a conference titled “Value-Based Codes of Russian Identity: Education — Science — Upbringing.” Experts discussed how to preserve traditional moral values in modern education.

Olga Vasilyeva, President of the Academy of Education, presented research on the value orientations of modern youth, noting that today’s graduates prioritize a comfortable working environment over high salaries.

Presidential Adviser and Academic Director of the RSUH Institute of Heritage and Contemporary Society, Valery Fadeev, emphasized the need to update humanities curricula. The institute is implementing projects such as “Cultural Calling Card,” developing textbooks, launching the “Land of the Future” program, and formulating a new theory of values.

RSUH Academic Director Efim Pivovar spoke on the need to reassess higher education programs to ensure they reflect contemporary Russian identity.

The Conference concluded with thematic sessions devoted to educational methods, identity formation, and challenges in humanitarian knowledge and interpretation.
