On April 21, 2024, a ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the RSUH Olympiad for schoolchildren took place in RSUH.
RSUH has been an active participant in the Olympiad movement for more than thirty years. In the 2023/2024 academic year, the RSUH Olympiad for schoolchildren was held in five subjects: foreign languages (English, French, German), Russian language, history, literature, social studies.
The winners were invited to receive awards at RSUH.
The ceremony was opened by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympics, Rector Bezborodov. He wished the schoolchildren to make the right professional choice while studying at RSUH.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympics, Vice-Rector Pavel Petrovich Shkarenkov. He congratulated the ceremony participants on their victory.
From year to year the Olympics sets and then breaks its own records in terms of scale and mass participation. This year was no exception: over 9 thousand schoolchildren took part in the qualifiers and almost 2.4 thousand people in the finals.
Representatives of all federal districts of Russia, as well as 11 foreign countries - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan - took part in the Olympiad.
The number of winners and medalists of the Olympics was also impressive: over 400 people took second and third places, 75 schoolchildren became winners.
Chairman of the Commission for Foreign Languages, Chair of Department of English Philology, Institute of Philology and History, Professor Natalya Gvozdetskaya noted that the University provided a variety of opportunities for studying foreign languages, both modern and ancient.
Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Russian language, Chair of the Department of Russian Language of the Institute of Philology and History of RSUH, Igor Sharonov welcomed the participants and the prize-winners and winners of the Olympiad.
Representative of the History section, Chair of the Department of General History, Professor Lebedev said that
The humanities were impossible without a human, so it was wonderful that there were those who were ready to peer into the “human” face of history.
Member of the Literature section, Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Historical Poetics Yuri Podkovyrin said that the participants had demonstrated not only a deep knowledge of literary works and the literary process, but also the ability to understand a literary text and interpret it from different positions.
Member of the Social Studies section, Professor of the Department of General History Roman Zarapin said that if we do not deal with social studies, the social studies will deal with us, adding that RSUH had a very wide range of social studies programs.
