On April 11, 2020, an online lecture on the career guidance for future sociologists was held jointly with pre-Universitarium of RSUH.
The lecture was opened by Dr. Vorobyova, Director of pre-Universitarium, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of Sociology of the Faculty of Sociology.
Dr. Natalia Velikaya, Dean of the Faculty, spoke about the advantages of the profession of sociologist in the modern world, the qualities that distinguish people who choose this major, and the prospects for the development of the Faculty.
Dr. Roman Anisimov, Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of Sociology, said that sociologist is not just a profession, it is a special way of thinking and attitude towards reality. He told the audience about the “sociological imagination” and what research projects are being implemented at the Faculty.
Students of pre-Universitarium found out about the educational options they may choose, such as “Sociology of Marketing” and “Sociology of Politics and PR”.
Dr. Natalya Belova, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Sociology spoke about the major “Sociology of Marketing” and the opportunities for participation in academic events, internships and career prospects for graduates.
Dr. Marina Milovanova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Sociology, drew attention to the flexibility of the curriculum, the competitive skills and competencies, as well as the specifics of the major “Sociology of Politics and PR”.
Dr. Galina Tartygasheva, Deputy Dean, Assistant Professor of the Department of Theory and History of Sociology, gave explanations regarding admissions.
And, of course, the most important participants in the lecture were students and graduates of the Faculty of Sociology. In career guidance work, it is especially valuable and important that it was they that factually found the time to tell what opportunities and career prospects are provided by the Faculty, the internships, and the general friendly atmosphere, which makes it possible to study at the Faculty in a meaningful, fun and interesting way.
The Dean's office thanks the Student Council and personally the undergraduate students Anastasia Soldatova, Maria Glazova, Diana Koshkakaryan, Alexander Shchirsky for their active participation; as well as the M.A. students Evgeny Zverev, Georgy Nioradze, and our alumnus Grigory Arkin.
