The visit lasted October 4-12 2019. The delegation included Dr. Zhuravlyova, Vice-Dean of the Department of International Relations and Dr. Isaeva, Director of Moscow-Quebec Center.
RSUH has been partners with Laval University for 25 years and the prolongation of the Cooperation Agreement and the Protocol of Academic Exchange was one of the goals of the visit. The documents, signed by Rector Bezborodov were delivered to the international office of Laval University and Dr. Pezanne, Counselor at the International Office of the Laval University, accepted them, saying that she was very pleased by the development of the bipartite relations.
Dr. Zhuravlyova delivered a lecture “The Russians and the Americans in reciprocal representations”, in which she described long-term trends in the way the Russians and the Americans see each other.
In twenty years of his tenure, Professor Alexandre Sadetsky (Head of Russian Studies, Laval University) and Dr. Mogilevskaya (RSUH) have carried out a series of joint cultural and academic projects, supported by the Association Internationale des Études Québécoises (AIEQ), chaired by Dr. Isaeva.
The RSUH delegation was received by Director, Deputy Director and Chair of the Administrative Council of the Association, with the Director informing that as of 2020 the Association resumes its grant and scholarship support of the Russian undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Quebec studies.
On October 9, Dr. Isaeva was awarded the Order of French-speaking America in the Parliament Assembly of Quebec. This decoration is one of the highest national medals in Quebec and is traditionally awarded to individuals who have made a great contribution to preservation and promotion of the French language in America. It is awarded yearly to seven candidates. The decision to award the Order to Dr. Isaeva is an honor both to the Professor herself and RSUH in general. Dr. Isaeva was chosen for her efforts and activity in the fields of academic exchange, her research and education-related achievements as well as for the contribution she has made to the furthering of Russian-Quebec relations.
In general, the visit of the RSUH delegation is seen as a sign of further promotion of academic mobility, Quebec studies in Russia and academic development of Canadian studies in RSUH at the Department of International Relations and Foreign Area Studies.
