Dr. Prater (Iowa State University) gave two lectures on the 13 and 14 December 2018, on the subjects of formation of rock’n’roll and America’s perception of Tchaikovsky, respectively.
Vice-Rector Zabotkina gave a welcoming speech, in which she informed the listeners of Dr. Prater’s academic track. For many years he chaired the Music Theory Division at Iowa State University, authoring over 90 original musical pieces of various genres and many academic and educational works. His oratorio Veni Creator Spiritus was nominated by the Koenigsberg Foundation for the Grawemeyer Prize in Music Composition. He has received several awards from American Society of Composers.
