The photo-exhibition and symposium “Legacy of the Seljuks” opened at RSUH
The event, celebrating art of the Seljuks (1038-1308), opened October 26. It was attended by Mr. Dirioz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey in Moscow, President Pivovar, Vice-Rector Zabotkina, Dr. Vasiliev, Head of the Russian-Turkish Center at RSUH and Dr. Meyer, President of the Institute of Asian and African Studies at MSU.
The Seljuks united peoples and cultures from the Mediterranean to Central Asia into states with flourishing arts and sciences. The uniqueness of the Seljuk architecture, crafts, metalwork and ceramics is represented at the Exhibition.
The event was organized within the framework of the project “The Legacy of the Grand Seljuks”, organized jointly by the Selçuklu municipality in Turkey (city of Konya), Society of Intellectuals of Konya, Turkish Embassy in Moscow, Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency, and the RSUH Russian-Turkish Center.
Many experts, including Dr. Vasiliev and Dr. Meyer delivered talks and presentations. Dr. Averyanov, Professor of the Russian-Turkish Center spoke on the subject of spiritual life in the time of Seljuks. Presentations were also made by research fellows at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the RAS and Necmettin Erbakan University in Turkey.
