International round table “Foreign policy of Pakistan and its role in the SCO”
The event was held at RSUH September 28, opened by Acting Rector Bezborodov and Vice-Rectors Zabotkina and Pavlenko.
Several top diplomatic and economic officials were present at the Table on the part of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Mr. Kazi Mohammad Haliullah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan, talked about the role Pakistan played in the SCO. He spoke on the importance of the geostrategic position of the country, its nuclear arsenal, and its international authority. It was Russia that supported Pakistan’s full membership in the SCO, and Pakistan welcomed Russia in an observer status to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Contacts between the two countries have been expanding on all levels and in all sectors of commerce and trade.
Professor Shahida Wizarat, Dean of the Institute of Business Administration at Karachi, talked about the China-Pakistan economic corridor that would connect the port of Gwadar and Chinese Xinjiang to ship oil from the Persian Gulf and Chinese merchandise to Near East and Africa.
Mr. Sergey Vasiliev, Director of the Business Council of Cooperation with Pakistan at RFCCI, talked about a visit to Karachi and negotiations about investments in the province of Sindh.
Mr. Khalil Rekhman, President of “My Pakistan” association, talked about the activities of his organization.
The Table was organized by the Dept of International and Regional Studies at the Institute of History and Archives and the International Center of South Asian Studies, Business Council of Cooperation with Pakistan and “My Pakistan” association.
