As part of the International Conference “East and Africa in the Transformation of Modern Reality”, the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the role of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation in the liberation movement of African countries took place at RSUH. It presented materials prepared for exhibition on the African continent

The event was attended by the following executives: Acting Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Vera Zabotkina, Director of the Museum Center Irina Bakanova, Head of the International Relations Department Olga Trofimova, Head of the Department of Modern Oriental Studies Nikita Filin, Director of the Center for Applied African Studies Alexander Zoti, and representative of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, senior expert of the Commission on Migration Issues in Moscow Government Stanislav Veselov.

The event was moderated by Irina Bakanova, who said: “The working group spent a year preparing the first exhibition on the African continent dedicated to the role of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation in the liberation movement of African countries. Both students and teachers took part in the preparation of materials. It is very important for us that some photographs were obtained from the Union of Veterans of Angola and the personal archives of the participants in those events. This exhibition aroused enormous interest from both the public and the media.”

“Today it is important to develop friendly relations with African countries. Many students come to study at our universities, and we value this international cooperation and interaction. Of course, it is important to help those students adapt to Russia. I wish you good luck and congratulate you on the opening of the exhibition”, noted Stanislav Veselov.

Participants and guests of the exhibition shared their impressions of the materials, discussed the relevance and importance of this project in the current political realities.
