An event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the siege took place at RSUH

On February 9, a meeting was held with Eduard Smurago, a resident of besieged Leningrad, chairman of the Commission for Patriotic Education of Youth of the Moscow Public Organization of Residents of Besieged Leningrad; Anatoly Yushkov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Tverskoy District of Moscow; Olga Kotyaeva, Chairman of the Commission for Patriotic Education of Youth of the Council of Veterans of the Tverskoy District, deputy of the Council of Deputies of the Tverskoy Municipal District, colonel of the customs service, veteran of the customs service, Veteran of Labor.

The event was opened by Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Social Work Irakli Bolkvadze, who thanked the guests of honor for the visit and the opportunity to communicate with an eyewitness to the turning points in the history of our country.

The central event of the meeting was the story of Eduard Smurago about his childhood, about the horrors of the siege of Leningrad, about the selfless acts of Soviet military personnel, and about how children and their parents survived in those monstrous conditions. The students were especially interested in memories of the veteran’s family and the life of the siege survivors.
