On February 2, a meeting of the administration of RSUH with representatives of the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in the Russian Federation took place. The event was attended by First Vice-Rector Pavlenko and Acting Vice-Rector Zabotkina, Head of the International Relations Department Dr. Olga Trofimova and Senior Lecturer at the Department of European Languages Oksana Dr. Samoylenko. The Embassy of Brazil was represented by Mr. Andre Ripple, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation and Mr. Suzuki de Amorim, Head of the Department of Culture, Education, Media and Public Diplomacy Carlos.

The representatives discussed the creation of International Russian-Brazilian Center at RSUH and the opening of a new educational program. “Starting September 2023, RSUH will begin implementing a new Brazil-related educational program, a track which already happens to be in great demand, as Brazil is attracting a large number of investors due to its rapidly developing economy,” said First Vice-Rector Pavlenko.

On January 24, at a session of the Academic Council of RSUH, it was decided to open International Russian-Brazilian center, headed by Dr. Oksana Samoylenko, Senior Lecturer at the Department of European Languages.

“In the context of the increasing role of Brazil in the global economy, as well as in connection with the relevance of the development of intercultural dialogue with the BRICS countries, the opening of such a center is an important event,” said Dr. Vera Zabotkina, Acting Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of RSUH.

The issue of receiving a visiting Brazilian lecturer at RSUH was also discussed. The University will become the third institution in Russia to teach the Brazilian version of the Portuguese language.

In the near future, it is also planned to sign cooperation agreements between RSUH and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, the Fluminense Federal University, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, and expand cooperation with the largest university in Brazil in Sao Paulo.
