The course is aimed at outlining the periods of the development of the English literature in connection with the development of the English language (old English period, middle English period) and the development of the English literature (the formation of the epic, lyrics, drama, and the genre system).
At the end of the course the student will know the main stages of the dynamics of the literary process in England in the period from the V century to the XXI century; historical and literary facts, systematized in accordance with modern literary approaches and strategies for the analysis of foreign literary text; the main national features of the development of English literature in connection with the cultural and historical context.
The course program includes lectures (50 hours), practical classes (30 hours), independent work of students (40 hours).
