Anthropology and ethnology

The program focuses on training highly qualified specialists with a wide range of fundamental and applied knowledge about man and society in its cultural diversity; on the processes of intercultural communication in the context of globalization of the modern world; on the development of world cultures; on the biological nature of man in different cultures; on contemporary ethnic and ethno-confessional migration processes; on the state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of interethnic relations, on methods and means of overcoming ethnic conflicts, nationalism, xenophobia and extremism; on methods of enforcing and expanding the rights of ethnic and religious minorities and solving other problems directly related to the implementation of the state national policy of the Russian Federation.

This program is unique both to Russia and internationally. Our graduates are equipped with unparalleled skills. The main feature of the program is the combination of socio-anthropological disciplines with comprehensive training, which involves mastering the biological knowledge about a human. This program also has a sizable language element, paying special attention to translation of professional texts from foreign languages into Russian and vice versa.

Preservation of cultural and natural heritage; History of Russian anthropology and ethnology; History of foreign anthropology and ethnology; Audiovisual anthropology; Modern ethnocultural and ethnopolitical processes in Russia, etc.

Areas of occupation: research institutions; archives and museums, institutions of secondary education and of cultural-educational orientation, organization of ethno-tourism and protection of cultural and natural heritage; state and municipal government bodies (consulting, expert and project activities, planning and implementation of policies aimed at regulating interethnic and interfaith processes, regional development policies), law enforcement agencies and migration services, state and public organizations of analytical profile, mass media, social planning, marketing, HR and strategic development.
