On October 29, a session of the Academic Council held at RSUH.
The session began with Acting Rector Loginov mentioning that RSUH had been granted the status of an autonomous educational institution. Last week, the first meeting of the Supervisory Board was held, during which Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, was elected Chairman. The Rector addressed the members of the Academic Council with a request to direct their collective efforts to raising issues and desired results for the future transformation of the University:
"This is a new stage in our life, and we must carefully consider this opportunity. I feel that we can get support, but in order for it to produce quality results, we ought to seriously think about the tasks and results that we would like to see."
During the session, certificates of honor of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation were awarded to:
• Oleg Artemov, Professor of the Department of Management, Associate Professor of the Art-Design Educational Center;
• Ivan Kossov, Head of the Administrative and Legal Department;
• Yuri Orlitsky, Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of Mandelshtam Studies;
• Stanislav Timofeev, Dean of the Faculty of Law;
• Galina Shevtsova, Director of the Institute of Information Sciences and Security Technologies
Associate Professor title has been granted to:
• Maria Kruglova, "Economic Theory";
• Svetlana Ravandi-Fadai, "General History";
• Kirill Zorin, "Media Communications and Journalism";
• Galina Tartygasheva, "Sociology of Culture".
Commendation was announced to Boris Khavkin, Professor of the Department of Foreign Area Studies and Foreign Policy, and Natalia Davletshina, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Area Studies and Foreign Policy of, for many years of conscientious work and impeccable service.
The members of the Council supported the draft decisions on the transformation of the Center "Higher School of Restoration" of the Faculty of Art History of the RSUH into the Department of Restoration of the Faculty of Art History of the RSUH, as well as the creation of the Center for Visual Anthropology of the RSUH. Andrei Loginov talked about the prospects for the development of documentary filmmaking as a genre that was covering ever larger areas of our lives from the point of view of anthropology, ethnology, art history, history and cultural studies, adding that through high-quality documentary audiovisual and videographic descriptions of recent life, RSUH Center for Visual Anthropology would strengthen political influence in the former CIS countries and resist attempts to distort history.
