Where to Apply: Double Degree Master's Programs

Bachelor's education helps to develop a basic set of competencies, such as critical thinking, an ability to process large amounts of information; Master's degree provides an opportunity to get these skills more specialize.

A well-chosen M.A. program is able to fine-tune the B.A. competencies. One of the advantages of the RSUH M.A. program is its international orientation. Thanks to the network of international contacts, students have the opportunity to gain vast experience in intercultural communication, language practice and the most relevant knowledge within the framework of the chosen discipline.

History and Geopolitics of Modern Eurasia (Russia - France) - Department of Post-Soviet Studies


Jointly with the University Paris 8, France


The Institute of Post-Soviet and Interregional Studies, jointly with the University of Paris-8, is implementing the international Master's program "History and Geopolitics of Modern Eurasia" (major "History"). The program provides for studying at the University of Paris 8 during the fourth semester. The graduate receives two diplomas, from RSUH and the University of Paris 8.

Historical, philosophical and social studies (Russia; Russia-France)


Jointly with the Universities Paris 4 (Sorbonne) and Paris 8


The Master's program provides an opportunity for two majors: those who speak only Russian can obtain a Russian Master's degree in philosophy; those who speak French can get a double degree from RSUH plus the University of Paris 4 (Sorbonne) or the University of Paris 8. Classes are taught by qualified specialists from RSUH and Universities Paris 4 (Sorbonne) and Paris 8 on the basis of the French University College in Moscow.

East European Studies (Russia - Germany) – Institute of History and Archives


Jointly with the University of Konstanz


The Master's program in Eastern European Studies is designed for individuals who have received a Bachelor's degree in humanities, social and cultural sciences, as well as for specialists in the field of History. It is international and has been offered by RSUH since 2006 in cooperation with one of the largest universities in Germany, the University of Konstanz. The program is aimed at the formation of comprehensive knowledge of social, political, economic and cultural development of the countries of Eastern Europe and Russia.

Historical Comparative Studies and Transitology (Russia - Poland), Institute of History and Archives, Institute of Philology and History


Jointly with the Copernicus University (Torun), Poland


This international Master's program, offered by RSUH since 2010 in cooperation with one of the largest universities in Poland, Copernicus University (Torun), provides professional knowledge of history and current state of the Russian-Polish relations, teaching students history, interdisciplinary research methods and preparing them for the continuation of graduate studies. It offers two diplomas, Russian and European, and helps the students master the Polish language while studying for a semester in Poland.

Russia and Europe: Linguistic and Cultural Interaction, the International Center "Higher School of European Cultures"


Jointly with the University of Innsbruck (Leopold und Franz Universitat), Austria; Ruhr-University, Bochum, Germany; State University (UNIMI), Milan, Italy


The Higher School of European Cultures (HSEK) is an international center at the Faculty of Culturology of RSUH, which offers an M.A. program in cultural studies.

The program is designed for international students who are not in sufficient command of the Russian language and want to study in Russia. It is also oriented toward the education of Russian students who are interested in receiving MA RUB, LFUI and UNIMI diplomas, as well as MA diploma in cultural studies of RGGU, and are ready to study in foreign languages. International Literary Studies, Russian-German Cultural Transfer (Russia - Germany), Institute of Philology and History, Faculty of History and Philology, Department of German Philology


Jointly with the University of Freiburg, Germany


The Master's program is aimed at an in-depth acquaintance with literary criticism, German studies, as well as literary and cultural comparative studies. The graduates receive special competencies in the field of Russian-German cultural and literary relations.

History and new technologies (Russia - France), Institute of History and Archives, Department of History and Organization of Archival Affairs


Jointly with the Sorbonne (Paris, France)


This international Master's program, offered by RSUH since 2008 in cooperation with the National School of Charters (Sorbonne, Paris), teaches the application of the latest information technologies in history and archival studies, both French and Russian, in the context of the use of national documentary memory, as well as the process of documenting all areas of society and public administration.

Russian Culture (Russia - Germany) — International Center "Higher School of European Cultures"


Jointly with the Ruhr-University, Bochum, Germany


The Higher School of European Cultures (HSEK) is an international center at the Faculty of Culturology of RSUH, which offers an M.A. program in cultural studies.

Since September 2007, the School has offered the international Master's program "Russian Culture" (major "Culturology") developed and implemented jointly with the Lotman Institute of Russian Culture.

Intercultural Communication: Language, History and Literature of Russia and Italy (Russia - Italy), Institute of Philology and History


Jointly with the University of Bologna, Italy


This is a two-year program, with one semester at a partner university. Master's students of partner universities will get to know the country of study, significantly improve their proficiency in a foreign language, acquire international communication skills, collect material for their theses as well as study modern theories and methods applied at the host university. Upon completion of their studies, the participants will receive diplomas from these two universities.

Theory and practice of working with electronic documents in management bodies and archives (Russia - Kazakhstan), Institute of History and Archives


Jointly with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University


This Master's program has been implemented in accordance with the Federal State Standard "Document and Archive Studies". The program is focused on training specialists in the field of electronic documents in management bodies and archives. The graduates will be called upon to manage archival heritage of the country on any carrier and will be able not only to support documentation processes in various areas, but also to independently solve urgent issues related to document management in the context of constant updating of knowledge and technology.
