The 5th All-Russian Forum "Peoples of Russia in the Era of Global Challenges" was held at the World Trade Center on November 1-2. Acting Rector Andrei Loginov took part in the panel discussion and spoke about the main ways of strengthening national identity in Russia.
As part of the Forum, a panel discussion "General Civic Identity in the Context of New Strategic Priorities" was held. The main objective of the discussion was to consider the all-Russian civic identity as an integral part of the sovereignty of the Russian Federation, to exchange experience between representatives of the academic and expert community, federal executive authorities, heads of executive bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and representatives of civil society institutions.
Acting Rector Andrei Loginov noted that when speaking about identity, it should be presented as a certain objective system or structure. It is certainly objective, since there are three factors that make its existence necessary and inevitable within the framework of our multinational state, with its rich history and unique culture. These factors pave the common historical path traveled by our peoples, the unity of the socio-normative space and the common Russian culture as the cultural code of the people in the Russian civilization.
"If historical knowledge among our population deepens, if legal consciousness and legal culture are strengthened, if our citizens are not indifferent to those concepts and images that form the core of our all-Russian culture - the works of our classics or Soviet films, opera or ballet, paintings of our artists - then our all-Russian identity will grow," emphasized the Acting Rector.
The following public figures also took part in the discussion: Stanislav Bedkin, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Affairs of Nationalities; Timur Tsybikov, Head of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Interethnic Relations of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs; Ildar Gilmutdinov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Affairs of Nationalities; Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of Synodal Department for Church-Society and Mass Media Relations; Sergei Melnikov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Georgy Muradov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation; Andrei Polosin, Vice-Rector of RANEPA; Valery Tishkov, Co-Chairman of the Academic Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Complex Issues of Ethnicity and Interethnic Relations.
