From May 16 to May 17, the VIII All-Russian Conference "The Garden of Forking Paths-2023" was held at RSUH, timed to coincide with the 170th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Solovyov, the 85th anniversary of the death of the Holy New Martyr and Confessor of Russia Mikhail Novoselov and the thirtieth anniversary of the House- Museum of Sergei Durylin. The event was attended by scholars and experts from Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Germany.
Dr. Svetlana Konacheva, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the RSUH, delivered a welcoming speech, in which she wished the participants of the Conference successful and fruitful work. “At the Conference we are talking not only about the well-known figures of Russian philosophy, but also about those undeservedly ignored by researchers,” she said.
As part of the plenary session, presentations were made by Dr. Galina Ulyanova (Institute of Russian History of the RAS) “Literacy of the population in the era of the Silver Age: overcoming historiographic stereotypes”, Dr. Anna Rezinchenko “On the morphology of the ghostly self”, Dr. Troitsky, a senior Research Fellow at the Library of the History of Russian Philosophy and Culture “House of Losev", ""Gostenka" and "philosopher" in the era of the Great Break (M.A. Novoselov and A.F. Losev)".
Various aspects of works by Solovyov, Novoselov, Losev, Durylin, the influence of Solovyov on the "New Vienna School" of art history were discussed. The participants talked about the reflection of the ideas of Solovyov in the treatise "Mnemology" by Dr. Shor, highlighted the key issues of the philosophy of the Silver Age and Russian religious philosophy, spoke on issues of literary theory, and considered many others topics.
