On December 21, RSUH and St. Petersburg State University held (via ZOOM) a joint Open Doors Day for programs in mathematics, computer science and information technology, as well as social sciences and humanities.
RSUH was represented by the Institute of History and Archives, the Institute of Information Sciences and Security Technologies, the Faculty of Sociology, the Faculty of International Relations and Foreign Area Studies.
The event was opened by Dr. Alexander Babich, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Admission of St. Petersburg State University, who spoke about the importance of the joint work of the two universities.
“The national projects “Education” and “Science” provide for close cooperation between Russian institutions of higher education, and we hope that our interaction will be useful in the framework of vocational guidance, training and research,” said Dr. Babich.
In his welcoming speech, Rector Alexander Bezborodov emphasized the value of cooperation between the two universities for coordinating efforts in the development of academic programs, saying that “cooperation between RSUH and St. Petersburg State University is a serious step forward in the training of specialists and solution of problems of a wide profile. There are dozens of graduate programs at RSUH that help the university build up its scientific potential, as well as be visible in Russia and abroad in the formation of a number of breakthrough areas in the humanities, natural and exact sciences. I think that the training of graduate students today means new academic and pedagogical schools tomorrow”.
Dr. Olga Pavlenko, First Vice-Rector of RSUH, focused on the University's activities in the field of integrative humanities.
“For RSUH, the experience of holding joint open days with SPbU is extremely important. Today we present our resources in the field of socio-humanitarian research. The University is focused on integrative humanities, because at present it is important that students can fine-tune themselves into full-fledged researchers who have not only competencies in the field of fundamental knowledge, but also the ability to apply them in the social sphere,” said Dr. Pavlenko.
The participants were also greeted by Dr. Alexander Khurshudyan, Head of Admissions of St. Petersburg State University.
