RSUH athletes at the 5th World InterUniversities Championship in Pula (Croatia)

Two and a half thousand representatives from sixty (with eleven Russian) universities of twenty-two countries of Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe participated in the event.

The Opening Ceremony was held in the historical center of Pula on November 14.

RSUH teams competed in swimming, volleyball, basketball and mini-soccer.

There were 19 swimming teams with RSUH taking 12th place, sharing it with the teams from University Milano La Statale (ITA) и University of Juraj Dobrila (HRV).

The women’s volleyball team took 4th place, beating teams from University Milano La Statale (ITA), IESEG Paris, RUDN and Czech Technikal University in Prague, yet losing to Sljvak University of Technology in Bratislava.

Men’s soccer team beat the representatives from Slovakia, Libya, Italy and France, taking 9th place (out of 30 teams) as a result.

There were 20 basketball teams with our rivals being teams from Le Creusot (France), Bocconi Sport Team (Italy) and Universidad Pontificia Comillas (Испания). Having beaten Le Creusot and Bocconi, RSUH gave in to Comillas at 22-32 and finally losing to the Leonard de Vinci University (France) team in the quarters.

On the last day of the games the General Assembly of the InterUniversities Sport Committee held elections for the members of Executive Committee of InterUniversities Sport Committee for the period of 2020-2024. Seven people were elected with our Vice-Rector Bolkvadze among them.

RSUH athletes are extending their thanks to the University in general and Rector Bezborodov in particular for making it possible for them to participate in the Championship. They are also grateful to the Sportmaster company for the sportswear and equipment provided.
