Rosreestr and RSUH will begin a joint project on the digitalization of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the small-numbered peoples of Russia.
The agreement on strategic cooperation and organization of interaction in the field of academic, educational, expert, practical, information-related and analytical activities was signed by the head of the department Oleg Skufinsky and Acting Rector AndreiLoginov.
Oleg Skufinsky spoke about the main tasks of Rosreestr, as well as the flagship project of the department to create a National Spatial Data System.
Andrei Loginov spoke about the University's interest in collaborating with the Rosreestr team.
"To be useful to Rosreestr is a great honor and a good challenge for my colleagues and our graduates, this is an activity for the benefit of the Fatherland. The signing of the agreement will become the basis for in-depth work in a variety of areas,” said the Acting Rector.
Deputy Head of Rosreestr Elena Martynova spoke about the Department’s work on developing the Unified Digital Platform and the service “Languages of the Small-Numbered Peoples of the Arctic”.
Currently, the service is operational, the work has been completed for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). It contains data on settlement areas, level of proficiency in the native language and other information.
Elena Martynova demonstrated the work of the service showing how to view the layers of spatial data of interest, get acquainted with semantic information, work with other layers and cartographic bases. She noted that the signing of the agreement would only be the first step in developing further cooperation with RSUH.
Academic Director of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Tishkov and Vice-Rector of RSUH Olga Pavlenko spoke about the creation of the "Interactive Atlas of the Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East: Languages and Cultures".
The project was launched 3 years ago on behalf of the Department for Coordination of Educational Organizations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
During this time, the project participants have created an inventory of expedition data on the small-numbered peoples that had beenconducted over 150 years in cooperation with the country's leading academic institutes and universities. It was then reviewed by the academic community and public organizations. Descriptions of each of the 40 peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East was included in the federal register and posted in the Interactive Atlas.
