RSUH and the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) agreed on strategic cooperation

On September 30, a ceremony of signing of the cooperation of agreement between RSUH and VTsIOM took place. The document was signed by Acting Rector Andrei Loginov and General Director of VTsIOM Valery Fedorov.

The agreement formalizes a long-term partnership in matters of exchanging evaluations, data and analytics based on the results of strategically important research in the applied field, as well as mutual consulting, information and expert support for joint projects.

"We are pleased with our cooperation, especially in the field of joint programs for studying social phenomena that have not yet been researched enough. I would like to note that VTsIOM is one of the best schools of sociological practices, and most importantly, it has high-quality sociological products, for which it has been famous for three decades. I am confident that RSUH graduates will be an excellent addition to the VTsIOM team and the Russian Academy of Sciences," said Acting Rector Andrei Loginov.

Valery Fedorov and Andrei Loginov discussed topical issues of career guidance for young people. Sociologists note that the perception of different areas of employment has changed significantly in recent years and is more in line with the modern labor market demands. The 2023 survey showed that the demand for IT came in first, followed by medicine, and technical specialties. This trend has become noticeable in the last 2-3 years and is connected with the fact that society is aware of the overabundance of specialists in other areas that has been observed for the last 15 years.

In turn, Andrei Loginov emphasized that in Soviet times, in 1986, the socio-humanitarian direction had accounted for 27% of all students in the USSR universities, while 20% of students had entered the university right upon leaving school. Today, 80% of school graduates enter universities, and liberal arts majors account for 58%.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of the organizations agreed on promising areas for integrating sociological practices into academic and educational centers. General Director of VTsIOM Valery Fedorov emphasized that today in Russia there is a practically empty, but very relevant professional niche of historical sociology.
