On February 21, 2020, M-me Anael Duran, Coordinator for higher education, science and innovation, Coordinator of State scholarship programs of the Department for Cooperation and Culture of the French Embassy in Russia, and Monsieur Abdo Malak, Advisor on Science and Technology at the Embassy of France in Russia, visited RSUH.
During the visit, the guests met with undergraduates of the international Master's program “History and New Technologies (Russia-France)”, implemented at the Department of History and Organization of Archival Studies of RSUH together with the National Charter School, which is part of the Sorbonne, as well as with bachelors, majoring in Archival Affairs Abroad/ History, Culture and Archives of France.
The distinguished guests were welcomed by Dr. Vera Zabotkina Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Dr. Tatyana Khorkhordina, Head of the International Master's Program, Chair of the Department of History and Organization of Archival Studies, and Dr. Konstantin Krasnoslobodtsev, Deputy Head of the Master's program.
The students demonstrated a high level of French language proficiency, speaking about their research projects. Mr. Daniil Borisenko, an undergraduate student, presented a project “Relations between France and the Italian States under Henry II,” and also spoke about sources found in archives and manuscript departments of museums and libraries.
Mr. Stepan Reshetnikov, a graduate student, spoke about the historical sources he found in French archives, including the National Archive of France, about the participation of Soviet citizens in the Resistance during World War II. He also presented his publications on the topic he was researching.
Ms. Anna Kuznetsova, an undergraduate student, who had been an intern in the National Archive of France in July 2019 under the Agreement between the National Charter School and RSUH, shared her impressions of the internship, emphasizing its importance and usefulness for professional growth in the field of archival studies.
Madame Anael Duran and Monsieur Abdo Malak highly praised the level of French language of the students, as well as their professional competence.
They talked about the types of French scholarship internship programs at academic institutions in France, and invited students to compete for research grants and scholarships.
The French guests watched a film prepared by undergraduate and graduate students (under the guidance of Dr. Elena Belyaeva from the Department of Foreign Languages and Dr. Eduard Buet, Director of the Dijon Archive, about their ideas of the profession of historian-archivist. The film is already uploaded on the website of the International Council of Archives, as well as on the website of the General Directory of the National Archives of France.
