On September 13, a meeting was held at RSUH between Acting Rector Andrei Loginov and the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China for Education Affairs Tsao Shihai. The meeting was devoted to cooperation issues.
In the welcoming speech, Acting Rector Loginov noted the importance of exchanging experience and knowledge between the two countries:
"We are very happy to welcome you! For our University, the study of Eastern cultures and Chinese civilization is one of the most important tasks. We are proud that our University was one of the first in the country to establish Confucius Institute. The teaching of the Chinese language at RSUH is conducted in many disciplines and specialties; today, over 1,200 people study Chinese at the University. Strengthening our cooperation with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation has very great prospects. Teaching art, literature and history is a priority for us as a liberal arts university. Language is a portal to the life of another nation. We are pleased to expand the areas devoted to the study of Chinese culture in order to train specialists who will strengthen relations between our countries." Mr. Tsao Shihai, in turn, expressed the willingness of the Embassy to support initiatives aimed at developing bilateral relations, and highly appreciated the level of interaction between RSUH and China. He emphasized that such cooperation not only contributed to the development of education in general, but also strengthenedfriendly ties between the peoples of our countries.
The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, including the possibility of organizing cultural exchanges and academicconferences. One of the main topics of the talks was the creation of Chinese Museum Center at the RSUH. This initiative is expectednot only to improve the quality of education, but also help students to better understand the culture of China. The parties agreed to discuss further steps of cooperation during subsequent meetings.
