On August 4, a lecture was delivered at the Institute of History and Archives by Dr. Khokhryakova, titled “Descending into the Darkness: Cave Pilgrimages of the Ancient Mayans”.
The lecture was devoted to the role of the cave in the Mayan culture. The lecturer described the practices of burial in caves, as well as depictions on the cave walls.
