The event was held at RSUH on September 3.
This date is associated with the tragic events that took place in Beslan 20 years ago, when terrorists held more than 1,100 hostages, mostly children,in the building of Beslan School No. 1. That terrible September took the lives of 334 people. The Beslan event shocked the entire world leaving no one indifferent. Today we also mournthe victims of other tragedies that took place in Budyonnovsk, Buinaksk, Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Volgodonsk, Makhachkala, Moscow, Pervomaysky, St. Petersburg. Most recently, on March 22, 2024, one of the largest terrorist attacks in the history of Russia was launched in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk.
The world has witnessed terrorism changing: it has become widespread, and now each of us can become a victim. The Internet, religious fanatics, and death dealers who put profit above all else, provide assistance to the terrorists.
In Russia, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee is engaged in countering terrorism jointly with FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies. Representatives of various departments told our freshmen how to protect themselves and their loved ones from terrorist activity, how to behave if they become victims or witness a terrorist act or its consequences. Of particular interest was the presentation by the representative of the Civil Defense and Emergencies Service of RSUH Ilya Leksakov, devoted to the analysis of specific situations. Today, it is necessary to remember that terrorism can be overcome if the efforts of the entire Russian society are united.
