RSUH held a session of its Academic Council, chaired by Rector Andrei Loginov, discussing the reorganization of the Institute of Law, updates to internal regulations, and the launch of a new interactive portal on Ancient World History.
At the beginning, certificates of associate professor and awards titled "Honored Employee of the Russian State University for the Humanities" were presented to distinguished university staff members.
Following a general vote, the title of associate professor was awarded to:
In addition, deans of faculties, heads of departments, and lecturers of RSUH, were elected.
At the meeting, Russian historian and orientalist Mikhail Bukharin gave a presentation. He spoke about the major educational project "Oikumene", which is being implemented with the support of RSUH.
Rector Loginov highly praised the development and noted that "Oikumene" would undoubtedly resonate with historians, cultural studies scholars, art historians, and students.
"To unite space and time in the history of the Ancient World — this has long been the dream and the main objective of lecturers at Russian universities. Such work demands tremendous concentration and effort. The ‘Oikumene’ project unquestionably outpaces all leading developments not only in our country, but also worldwide. I would very much like to see our national history presented in such an engaging format as well," said the Rector.
Participants also discussed changes to the Regulations on the Academic Council, the Institute of Philology and History, the Institute of Journalism and Media Industries, as well as issues related to effective contracts and the payment of university employees.
Another topic on the agenda was the reorganization of the Institute of Legal Studies of RSUH. According to the Director of the Institute, the unit's operations will be restructured in accordance with the new model of higher education in the Russian Federation. This academic year, the Faculty of Law will still implement bachelor’s and specialist’s degree programs, but starting next year, newly admitted students will receive a comprehensive five-year legal education. Cooperation with the Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Kurchatov Institute is also planned.
"For RSUH, as a university with a vast array of humanities disciplines, it is essential to have its own truly strong Institute of Legal Studies. Given the extensive experience of Sergey Mikhailovich in both education and government service, we have every chance to establish within a few months a model Institute of Legal Studies that will serve as a benchmark for other Russian universities training legal professionals," noted Andrei Loginov.
