The official opening of the Center at the Faculty of Cultural Studies of RSUH took place on January 15 with the participation of representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The research projects of the Center are devoted to the Russian and the European visual culture in the dynamics of its development from the Middle Ages to the present. The Center employs historians and art historians who share a common interest in semiotics, visual anthropology, social history of images, in how images are built and how to decipher the information hidden in them.
