On October 19-20, the All-Russian Conference "Memory and Identity - V. Trauma in Historical Memory" was held at RSUH. The event was organized by the Department of World History of the Faculty of History of the Institute of History and Archives of RSUH.
The Conference was attended by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of RSUH Dr. Lorina Repina, young scholars of RSUH, invited guests from the Yeltsin Ural Federal University, HSE, the Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University, the Ushinsky Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University, RANEPA, Moscow Pedagogical State University, St. Petersburg State University, Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University.
The event was opened by Pavel Lebedev, Head of the Department of World History at RSUH.
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of RSUH Lorina Repina spoke at the plenary session about traumatic experience of the past in the perspective of the future.
Dr. Olga Porshneva, Head of the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of Ural Federal University, spoke about political participation of women in the first world war and the revolution of 1917 in the memoirs of Tyrkova.
The largest number of presentations this year was made in the section "Forms of representation of traumatic experience: from antiquity to the present" on October 19 and 20.
Maksim Sukhanov, a young scholar at the Syktyvkar State University, spoke about the Macedonian conquest in the historical memory of the Persians of the Sassanid era.
The section held on October 20 included Dr. Andrey Komarov's presentation “Memory of trauma as a factor in the formation of the collective identity of French Canadians in the 1950-90s.”, Dr. Sergey Ogudov’s “A screenplay as a narrative of personal experience: the work of Rzheshevsky”, Dr. Ilya Pashkov’s “Denial of the Holocaust in the USA: a historiographical aspect”.
A collection of articles will be published after the proceedings.
