Lecture on legal consequences of the use, possession and distribution of drugs held at RSUH

On March 10, as part of the program for the prevention of negative manifestations in youth and the action “RSUH Against Drugs,” the prosecutor of the Moscow office Anastasia Zvereva gave a lecture “Legal consequences of the use, possession and distribution of drugs, differences between the international and the Russian legislation". The lecture was organized by the Student Affairs Department jointly with the Law School of RSUH and Moscow Prosecutor's Office.

The lecture was attended by Dr. Irakli Bolkvadze, Vice-Rector for Social and Educational Work with Students, Dr. Stanislav Timofeev, Dean of Law School of RSUH, Dr. Lyudmila Kozharina, Head of the Department of Educational Work with Students, Dr. Irina Vorobyeva, Assistant to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ekaterina Lapatukhina, Deputy Dean of Law School, as well as by the curators of RSUH freshmen. The audience consisted of RSUH students and students in the Pre-Universitarium College for the Humanities of RSUH.

Ms. Zvereva touched on the following topics:

• laws of various countries as regards drug use, their distribution and production;

• legal consequences of drug use;

• physical consequences of drug use;

• myths about drug addiction;

• interaction with law-enforcement offices.

The Q&A session included the following questions:

• Do the representatives of law-enforcement offices educate the general public about the dangers of drugs?

• Why are the so-called soft drugs not legalized in Russia?

• Is it necessary to clamp down upon drug trafficking?

• Are forced treatment methods effective?

and others.

After the lecture, students had the opportunity to talk with the lecturer, discuss their concerns and thank the speaker.
