A conference titled "Demographic Challenges in the Formation of a Sovereign Social Economy in Russia" was held at the Institute of Socio-Economic Sciences of the Russian State University for the Humanities. The central theme of the event was the scientific approach to solving demographic issues.
The conference was moderated by Alexey Shulus, First Deputy Director of the Institute. Among the speakers were Dmitry Bobrov, First Vice-Rector and Director of the Institute; Konstantin Laikam, ISEN; Artyom Lukyanets, Associate Professor of the Department of National and World Economy; Natalya Sopilko, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of RSUH, as well as representatives from the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, MIREA, and the Moscow Brokerage Investment Company.
Dmitry Bobrov delivered a report titled "Demographic Problems of a Sovereign Social Economy". He presented solutions to these problems from the viewpoint of a professional economist. According to him, today many families do not wish to have children not so much due to a lack of money, but due to the high risks of a significant decline in their quality of life.
"To increase the birth rate, every factor must be examined, and for each one, mechanisms must be identified to minimize risks and preserve quality of life. The new economic system being built in our country must work specifically in this direction and develop solely in the interests of the individual," emphasized Dmitry Bobrov.
Conference participants also discussed topics such as: strengthening national health within the framework of traditional values of Russian society; forming human capital in the modern economic system; developing socio-demographic statistics in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States; new approaches to migration regulation; and other important issues.
Rector Loginov thanked the presenters for their constructive proposals and expressed confidence that many of the developments presented would form the foundation of the state's demographic policy.
"Today, demographic issues in our country are extremely pressing. We, as scholars inclined toward reflection and analytical criticism, believe that these problems must be solved based on a fundamental scientific foundation in order to achieve long-term results. I am confident that each of us will leave this conference with a new idea that will motivate further scientific research aimed at improving the country’s demographics," noted Andrei Loginov.
