On April 2, 2025, RSUH hosted the international academic conference “Chayanov Readings – 2025,” organized by the RSUH Institute of Socio-Economic Sciences. Experts discussed Russia’s position on the path to a sovereign social economy.
Opening the plenary session, First Vice-Rector and Institute Director Dmitry Bobrov spoke on the founding of a new academic school, “Theory and Practice of Sovereign Social Economy”.
The central topic was the examination of stages, causes, and prospects for dismantling Russia’s post-Soviet resource-based open economy and transitioning to a sovereign social economy model. This transformation requires fundamental changes in economic knowledge.
The theory and practice developed at the Institute include the establishment of a new academic school, study of its theoretical and methodological foundations, and analysis of the functioning of economic sectors.
The discussion continued in section meetings, which covered theoretical, methodological and historical aspects of the new model, strategies for implementing its principles, and the process of reproducing society’s human potential.
Over 100 participants from universities and research institutions in Russia and abroad took part in the Conference: Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Saint Petersburg State University, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Sadat Academy for Management Sciences (Egypt), Shandong Institute of Hydraulic Engineering (China), Polotsk State University (Belarus), Pridnestrovian State University (Moldova), and Karaganda University of Consumer Cooperatives of Kazakhstan.
