On May 29, a photo exhibition “The City Through the Eyes of People” opened on Nikolskaya Street. It is dedicated to the fate of Mariupol, destroyed in 2022 due to military actions and still undergoing active reconstruction.
The exhibition features unique photographs taken by eyewitnesses, the residents of Mariupol who personally experienced the tragedy. These images captured the state of the city in 2022: streets, buildings in ruins, destroyed churches. This authentic and unembellished perspective became the basis for a documentary narrative about Mariupol.
The exhibition’s location at RSUH is no coincidence as the University was involved in humanitarian support from the first months of the city's reconstruction by sending books, educational materials, and providing methodological assistance. The Institute of History and Archives of RSUH, as a center for the preservation of historical memory, was a natural choice for hosting the exhibition, remaining faithful to its mission of documenting events and conveying genuine human experience to future generations.
