Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Russia paid a working visit to RSUH

On August 12, a meeting of the University’s governing body with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in the Russian Federation took place at RSUH.

The Republic of Sudan was represented by Mr. Hassan Mohammed Elghazali Eltijani Sirraj, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation and Mr. Hassan Mohammed Mahmoud Osman, Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan.

RSUH was represented by Rector Bezborodov, Dr. Olga Trofimova, Head of the Department for International Relations of RSUH, Dr. Eleonora Kormysheva, Director of the International Center for the Study of Ancient Civilizations of Egypt and Sudan and Dr. Bashier Nizhud Hassan, Associate Professor of the International Golenishchev Research Center for the Study of Ancient Civilizations of Egypt and Sudan.

Earlier, on July 27, the parties had discussed the prospects for cooperation. It had been decided to open the Center for the Study Civilization of Sudan at RSUH.

Rector Bezborodov expressed his gratitude to the delegation of Sudan for the interest shown in the activities of RSUH, emphasizing the importance of academic cooperation for the international relations of the two states.

“It is a great honor for RSUH to work with the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Russia. We will be glad to develop cooperation in the field of culture and history between our countries. In this part, the opening of the Center for the Study of the Civilization of Sudan plays an important role in strengthening Russian-Sudanese relations by popularizing the culture and history of Sudan,” said Rector.

Dr. Kormysheva noted the interest of students and faculty of RSUH in the culture and history of the Republic of Sudan.

“With the opening of the Center, we are starting an important and unique undertaking, in which students will study the history and culture of the Sudanese people,” added Eleonora Efimovna.

Mr. Hassan Mohammed Elghazali Eltijani Sirraj, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan to the Russian Federation, expressed gratitude to the representatives of RSUH for the opening of the Center and noted that the Embassy will continue to support projects for studying the culture and history of Sudan.

“We are pleased that a research center for the study of Sudan has been opened at RSUH. This is a sign that our culture is interesting to society,” he said.
